Tank411 aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. The site’s design system is built around high-contrast ink on paper, and accessibility is treated as a requirement of that system, not an afterthought.
What we do
- Status is conveyed with text as well as color — county availability is labeled (“Live” / “Building”), never color alone.
- Body text meets at least 4.5:1 contrast against its background.
- The site is keyboard-navigable with visible focus indicators, and the interactive county map has a full list-view equivalent with the same information and links.
- Forms use visible labels above every field, with clear, plain-language error messages.
Known limitations
Some purchased artifacts (CSV files) are consumed in third-party tools whose accessibility we do not control, and the official state records we link to are outside our control. County preview images include descriptive alternative text, but the underlying map artwork itself is decorative.
